Wet signature requirement for Security Interest & Licence applications

Wet signature requirement for Security Interest & Licence applications

During the Covid pandemic the IPOI recognised the difficulties in obtaining original deeds or agreements with wet signatures. As an emergency provision, the Office agreed to allow as an exception, the filing of electronic facsimile versions of appropriately signed, sworn and notarised original documents such as registrable transaction applications for security interests and licenses.

With the cessation of the emergency provisions, the IPOI will now be returning to the pre-pandemic arrangements. From 17 April 2023, any documents requiring a wet signature, as outlined by section 10 of the e-Commerce Act, should now be submitted in this format.
